Clean energy is a fundamental right. Gift energy through the COI Energy platform to ensure a safe and dignified life for all communities.

Background

In the US, the energy burden is 3x the national average for low-income and minority households; nearly 1 in 3 homes faces energy insecurity and 1 in 5 homes are forced to make the impossible decision of paying for energy, or paying for other basic necessities like food and medicine. Low-income and minority populations are also more likely to live near power plants, facing exposure to radiation, greenhouse gas emissions and subsequent health risks. These same groups are less likely to afford power and often reside in homes with weaker infrastructure, unable to withstand climate-related weather disasters.

COI Energy’s “kW for Good” program enables businesses to pay forward their energy savings and help alleviate the energy burden for marginalized communities. Users can make a tax-deductible gift directly on the COI platform using a portion of their kW savings and receive a quarterly Impact Report.

We work with our partners, including TECO Share, New York City Housing Authority, and various NGOs, to support low-income households with utility bill assistance, low-cost energy efficiency upgrades, weatherization services, and renewable energy services.

What does it mean to gift energy?

  • Optimize energy performance and save energy to reduce costs, minimize carbon footprint, and help underserved communities achieve energy independence.
  • Assistance with utility bills, weatherization, and renewable energy access directly to those in need.

Gifting benefits everyone involved

  • Your organization will achieve immediate, tangible social impact goals by gifting energy directly to marginalized communities and underrepresented groups.
  • These gifts are tax-deductible. You will receive a detailed report of the support provided and the people impacted to share with your stakeholders.
